Early closures for open evening on Monday 23rd September

9 September 2019

Dear parents/carers

Early closures for open evening on Monday 23rd September

On Monday 23 September we will be holding our Open Evening event.  To give staff an opportunity to prepare and get displays ready, we will be closing the school early on Friday 20 and Monday 23 September.

The school day will finish at 12.30pm on both days.

Students will be encouraged to leave the site immediately, although there will be a full lunch offer available on both days.  Free school meals allowances will be available.

If your child has been selected to help at the Open Evening on Monday 23 September please ensure you have completed and returned the permission slip to the relevant department.  The evening will finish at 8.00pm.

Finally, all students now leave from Pullman Gardens as the exit is larger.  To respect local residents, if you are collecting students by car please arrange to meet them away from Pullman Gardens and Hayward Gardens as the roads are very narrow and becoming easily congested.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

With best wishes

Alison Downey

BBC Introducing Live 2018

In November, several of our year 10 students were invited to BBC Music Introducing LIVE 18' an event where up to 15,000 budding musicians met industry talent at London’s iconic Tobacco Dock. This day centres around discovering and supporting new music and thinking about post-16 music pathways.

There was a wide range of inspiring masterclasses and interactive sessions, practical workshops. Our students also heard from some really high profile speakers from across the industry and took part in their Q&A sessions. These industry experts ranged from the recorded, live, broadcast and digital sectors and the were able to share their insider knowledge. Students got to use up to date equipment, instruments and software - some were also interviewed for the Live show!

In addition to this, there was also the opportunity for visitors to have their music heard in the A&R Feedback Centre as well as gain practical advice from leading BBC sound engineer experts in the BBC Recording Studio Zone which was really useful.

We have some excellent musicians, singers and producers at APA and we hope that the day provided some invaluable support as they take the next steps in their careers.
