Our safeguarding policy is consistent with the Child Protection Procedures outlined in the following publications: DfES’ ‘Safeguarding children and safe recruitment in education’, published in 2006, and effective 1 Jan 2007, 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' (2006), ‘What to do if you are worried a child is being abused’ (2006) `Dealing with Allegations of Abuse against Teachers and Other Staff- Guidance for Local Authorities, Head Teachers, Academy Staff, Governing Bodies and Proprietors of Independent Academies’ (2011) . It reflects the current advice of the DfE and of the local Safeguarding Children Board.
This policy applies to all staff, governors and volunteers working in or on behalf of the academy.
The academy, its staff and governors, are committed to safeguarding the welfare of our pupils and to providing a safe environment with robust systems to ensure the safety and healthy development of all our pupils, within the academy and on related academy trips and other activities.
Everyone working in or for the academy shares the objective of helping to keep children and young people safe by contributing to:
- ensuring that the academy provides a safe environment in which children and young people can learn and develop, and
- identifying children and young people who are suffering or likely to suffer abuse and taking appropriate action with the aim of making sure they are kept safe both at home and in the academy.
