6 December 2019
Dear parent carer
Monday 9 December – Full closure for KS3 only
I am writing to advise you that we have reluctantly decided to close KS3 all day on Monday 9 December. This applies to years 7-9 only. The Academy will remain open for KS4 and KS5.
We continue to have major issues with staffing, with nearly one third of teachers off sick today. I am already aware that I have a high number of staff certified as sick for Monday, meaning that we will be unable to cover classes effectively.
However, by having years 10-13 in school we can continue to provide these exam groups with a quality experience.
I expect all students to return to the Academy on Tuesday 10 December.
Thank you for your support.

Remembrance Ceremony Update:
Arrangements have been made to welcome Old Elliottonians for the Centenary Remembrance Ceremony on November 6th at 2pm.
This will be an opportunity for current students to participate with members of an older generation, bonded by a common experience of an education here at Putney Academy/Elliott School, in a solemn act of Remembrance.
If you are coming please contact the Principal’s PA Julie Rickard (email address above) so we know how many visitors we should be prepared for.
Ark Putney Academy apologies that parking at the school site for the Remembrance Ceremony will not be possible.
The ongoing refurbishment has meant external space is extremely limited and we are unable to provide parking for visitors.
The nearest available free parking is on Wildcroft Road on Putney Heath, a ten minute walk away. There are usually plenty of paying spaces on Westleigh Avenue.
Colin Humphreys site Manager will make arrangements for disabled drivers and assist with “drop-off” if he knows in advance. Please mention this when you RSVP.
We look forward to seeing you all.
