APA Sporting Successes
Thursday 23 November 2017
Over the past academic year, Ark Putney Academy PE Department has worked to increase participation levels across all extra-curricular clubs both during and after school. Building new relationships whilst further strengthening existing relationships with surrounding schools and organisations has helped improve training and competition for Ark Putney Academy students.
This has seen Ark Putney Academy grow their sporting presence within the Borough of Wandsworth now competing regularly in leagues or tournaments in the following Football, Rugby, Basketball, Netball, Athletics, Cricket, Handball, Indoor Rowing and Badminton. With this we have also seen success so far this year with our year 7 team winning the Wandsworth School games 6 a side football tournament, Our U14 Boys and Girls Basketball team now in the Wandsworth School Games Basketball finals, Year 11 & 10 Boys Football finalists in APA 7 a side Invitation Cup, U13 Boys rugby team currently unbeaten 5 games 5 wins.
Programmes we run for students include Business Enterprise Course run by Fulham FC Foundation, All Schools Programme (rugby for girls in year 7 & 8) which is run by RFU and England Rugby, Active Rowing Club run by London Youth Rowing, Beat It which is a weight management & healthy lifestyle programme for girls aged 14-18 years run by Enable, Young Sports Leaders led by Mr Hayden and Mr Sheehan. We also support our students in finding sports clubs and opportunities outside of school and in doing this have had students join or trial at Dover House Lions Football Club, Earlsfield Boxing Club, Morden Little League, Darra Football Club, Balham FC and Rosslyn Park RFC.
