Fantastic Results for Ark Putney Academy
Staff and students at Ark Putney celebrated a stellar set of Key Stage 4 and 5 exam results this year.
One third of all A-Level entries were graded at A or A*.
83% of entries were a C grade or higher, and 70% of students achieved 3 A Levels A*-C.
The academy also gained fantastic outcomes for the Value Added measure, with the English, History, Sociology and Geography departments all achieving in top 10% nationally, meaning the majority of students surpassed their expected targets.
There were many tears of happiness this morning as our students eagerly opened their results envelopes. Maia Drummond, who achieved A* A* A in English Literature, Sociology and History, and will go on to study English at Kings, said “I cannot believe it! I’m so happy that all this hard work paid off. I want to thank all my teachers, I have really prospered at Ark Putney Academy, especially through the creative side of the school – I played Macbeth, and Romeo – but not in the same play!”.
Another success story from Ark Putney is Hemiel Sarker who achieved A* A* A* in Maths, Biology and Chemistry and wants to become a medic “I think this school helped me learn to become very independent. I have a really good work ethic because of Putney, they taught me from a young age to be an individual, and not rely on others.”
The overall Alps score for the A2 results at Ark Putney was a 2, showing that most students exceeded their expectations in every subject. Well done to all the stuaff and students for this fantastic achievement.
We are also please to announce a very pleasing set of GCSE results this year.
The school excelled under the new measures, announcing that 71% of students achieved grades 9-4 in both English and Maths, with 83% gaining 9-4 in English Literature.
The school's Progress8 score was also impressive, students at Ark Putney achieved on average two thirds of a grade higher than their expected attainment.
Sabir Abdalla was awarded 10 GCSEs graded A*-B, receiving a grade 9 in English Literature, the highest grade possible to achieve in the new GCSE9 system.
Sabir said “I want to be a computer programmer when I’m older, to create games and become an entrepreneur. That would be a dream job for me to accomplish. This school is amazing, they listened to my aspirations and are organising programming work experience for me next year. I’d like to go to university at UCL after I’ve finished my A Levels.”
Daniel Edgeley also achieved 10 GCSEs at grades A*-B, Daniel was awarded a 9 in English Language and hopes one day to become a lawyer.
Daniel said “I’m proud of my results. The way I see it, if you can do something, then you have the moral obligation to yourself to do it to your best ability otherwise you’re kind of cheating yourself. I really like the teachers here at Ark Putney and I’m going to stay here for sixth form, because I feel that they know me well, and I’ll learn a lot more than if I went somewhere else. This is the place I feel most comfortable in learning.”
Well done to all our students!
