"Similarly to many other individuals I have many dreams, one of which included to become Head Student at ARK Putney Academy which now I have achieved. Although this is a great accomplishment if I tracked back to 4 years ago, I definitely would not see myself in this position. My journey through education has involved many milestones which is why I believe my story is one that stands out as despite being in care and moving secondary schools, I have achieved 9 GCSEs and I am on track to achieving a phenomenal set of A-Level grades before I progress onwards to achieving my bigger set of dreams. I would largely say that this is all down to APA. APA is a school that places a huge value on ensuring that every student is a pillar in any community’ and it is because of their values that I am the exceptional student that I am today. This, in a nutshell, is the reason behind why I applied for the role of Head Student. I could have chosen to become a Head Student at another school however I decided to remain at APA as the teachers have offered me everything and more, now, with this role I aim to give back to them by helping this school become an ‘outstanding’ school. Along with my fellow HS Shakira, I seek to do this by integrating the year groups through social events, improving the mental health resources available to all students, academically helping students and much more."
