Over the summer two of our 6th Form students Stella and Esmahan pitched and received a cash bursary from Mark Evison Foundation with the goal of completing a 3 day hike across Cornwall. They were given money to cover tansport, accomodationa and food and the rest was up to them! Read Stella's account of the hike below:

Cornwall Challenge:

"On our hiking challenge we trekked along the beautiful idyllic coast of Cornwall from Hayle, St Ives to Newquay. Fuelled by eating a hearty breakfast in the mornings, we walked all day long in the 3 days. We remained hydrated throughout the long hike and carried walking sticks. At one point one of us got blisters but we used our first aid to kit to help us continue walking. Luckily, for all three days we did not have any rain and it was sunny. It was truly an amazing view and at one lunch break we went down to the beach, rolled up our trousers and took off our shoes to dip our feet in sea. It was very relaxing! We also stumbled upon some historical landmarks such as Wheal Coates, a clifftop tin mining complex remains. We feel we gained valuable experience in team work- in sharing and allocating the planning tasks between us fairly and communicating.  Both of us learnt that it is really important to pace yourself using time management skills. We feel proud to have accomplished our achieved goal in the 3 days. It was lovely being there in Cornwall and this hike was definitely an experience we will never forget!"

We have just kicked off our Mark Evison pitches for Year 12 so look out for more info shortly!
