Year 10 Putney Academy student Romello recently interviewed trainee teacher Nick Penn - who came to talk to us about Teach First and his journey to becoming a successful history teacher. Nick Penn is a University Graduate who lives locally in the area. As an A Level student he studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English until he changed his path and fell in love with history.

He is now training through Teach First to help all kinds of students - from pupils that are well behaved to pupils that are challenging throughout everyday life. Nick’s goal is to become a History teacher in Essex when he finishes the course. When I asked Nick what he most enjoy about Ark Putney, Nick said he really enjoyed how the school staff and pupils welcomed him with open arms and treated him as if he was one of our own.

We then wrapped up quickly and said our goodbyes – wishing Nick good luck for the future!
