Dear parent carer
Monday 9 December – Full closure for KS3 only
I am writing to advise you that we have reluctantly decided to close KS3 all day on Monday 9 December. This applies to years 7-9 only. The Academy will remain open for KS4 and KS5.
We continue to have major issues with staffing, with nearly one third of teachers off sick today. I am already aware that I have a high number of staff certified as sick for Monday, meaning that we will be unable to cover classes effectively.
However, by having years 10-13 in school we can continue to provide these exam groups with a quality experience.
I expect all students to return to the Academy on Tuesday 10 December.
Thank you for your support.
Indoor Sportshall Athletics Tournament
On Thursday 29th January Ark Putney Academy entered three teams into the Indoor Sportshall Athletics competition.
This year’s competition, held at Ernest Bevin School in Tooting, consisted of a number of running events and indoor ‘field’ events such as the Standing Long Jump and Speedbounce. Our Year 8 girl’s team came 5th in a competitive girls field. Jewell Dje came 1st in the Four Lap Race.
In the Year 7 competition, Amiya Williams came 1st in the Shot Putt and Amy-Laylah Brewer came 1st in the Two Lap Race. Overall the girls came 6th out of 9 schools. In the boys competition, Kiron Bourne-Plummer did well to come 3rd in the Two Lap Race, Joseph Ifayomi came 3rd in the Standing Triple Jump and Sacha Ormiston came 2nd in the Six Lap Race. The boys missed out on 3rd place and a medal by 1 point! Hopefully next year we’ll be in the medals!
"It was simply the best day of my life, especially coming third in the Triple Jump" Joseph Ifayomi (Year 7)
"It was a really fun day, I can't wait to come back next year!" Amiya WIlliams (Year 7)
Well done to all the students who took part!
