Science

To discover and to inspire curiosity. Our core purpose is to provide students with:
· The tools to discover the truths of the world that we live in
· The opportunity to discover new ideas by investigating and drawing evidence-based conclusions
· The skills to access analytical and technological careers
· Employable skills such as problem solving, modelling, and reasoning

Year 7

Content Assessment
Pupils learn the fundamental skills and knowledge to be successful in each of the three science disciplines:

Cells are Alive

Organisms and interdependent

Structure determines properties

Energy is conserved

Forces predict motion

Electricity transfers energy

End of unit assessment for each topic

Network Diagnostic Assessment- Autumn and Summer

Year 8

Content Assessment
Pupils learn the fundamental skills and knowledge to be successful in each of the three science disciplines:
Bodies are systems
Characteristics are inherited
Reactions rearrange matter
Earth systems interact
End of unit assessment for each topic

Network Diagnostic Assessment- Autumn and Summer

Year 9

Content Assessment
In year 9 students will build on prior knowledge and skills whilst starting to apply previously learnt knowledge to more complex and diverse phenomena of the natural world to build the substantive knowledge.
Links are made between year 7 and 8 topics including the study of:
Ecosystems cycle resources
Fields produce forces
Radiation transfers energy
End of unit assessment for each topic

Network Diagnostic Assessment- Autumn and Summer
