Welcome
I am delighted to welcome you to Ark Putney Academy Sixth Form. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school-based sixth form which is devoted to helping every student achieve their potential and supporting them into their chosen university or career. We are equally proud of our track record with Oxbridge and Russell Group applications as we are of consistently beating our target grades in vocational qualifications.
Our sixth form students enjoy small classes where they get great teaching and intensive one-on-one support from highly skilled teachers. Our teachers know their students’ strengths and weaknesses and painstakingly plan, prepare and make themselves available to meet students’ needs. As a result we are in the top 10% nationally for student progress.
We give every one of our sixth form students the opportunity to broaden their horizons with topical speakers and extra-curricular activities. All students develop their own project and take part in structured debate, discussion and presentations. Each student is also a leader and a role model, and we expect each of our students to do something significant to make a difference to the life of the school or the wider community.
We hold open days throughout the year – head to the Admissions section for details.
If you think you may be interested in joining Ark Putney Sixth Form please don't hesitate to send me an email!
I look forward to meeting you.

Destinations
Our Sixth Form students consistently achieve outstanding destinations, progressing to top universities, competitive apprenticeships, and meaningful employment. This success is underpinned by high-quality teaching, personalised guidance, and a strong culture of aspiration. As part of the Ark network, students benefit from a wealth of opportunities including university access programmes, career partnerships, and enrichment experiences that broaden horizons and raise ambitions. The network’s strong links with leading institutions and employers provide invaluable support, helping students make informed choices and realise their full potential. Our Sixth Form is a launchpad for future success, grounded in excellence, opportunity, and ambition.
Bursary
Our Sixth Form students can apply for the exclusive Ark Bursary, generously funded by Marshall Wace, offering between £10,000 and £50,000 to support university study. This prestigious award helps remove financial barriers, enabling students to access top universities and pursue their ambitions with confidence, independence, and the full backing of the Ark network.
Pastoral Support
At our Sixth Form, pastoral care is at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Our dedicated pastoral team works closely with students, offering one-to-one guidance, mental health support, and tailored mentoring to help them navigate both academic and personal challenges. Regular wellbeing sessions, enrichment activities, and a strong sense of community ensure that students are not only prepared for academic success but also for life beyond school. We are committed to helping every individual flourish.
Enrichment
At Ark Putney, enrichment is a vital part of Sixth Form life. Students enjoy a wide range of weekly activities designed to broaden horizons, build skills, and foster personal growth. From sports and creative clubs to leadership programmes and volunteering, there’s something for everyone. We offer inspiring university visits, guest speaker talks, and career-focused workshops throughout the year. A highlight is our annual residential trip to the University of Bath, giving students a taste of university life and raising aspirations. These experiences help students grow in confidence, explore new interests, and prepare for life beyond the classroom.
Leadership
Our Sixth Form plays a central role in shaping the school’s student leadership. Sixth Form students lead key areas including Head Student, Wellbeing, Community, Academic, and Personal Development (PD), acting as role models and ambassadors across the school. They are selected through a rigorous application and interview process, ensuring a team of committed, inspiring leaders. These students organise initiatives, represent pupil voice, and support younger peers, fostering a culture of collaboration and responsibility. Through this leadership structure, Sixth Formers gain valuable experience, confidence, and skills that prepare them for future success in higher education and beyond.
Community
Our Sixth Form fosters a strong, supportive community where students build lasting friendships and a shared sense of purpose. Sixth Formers play a key role in whole-school events, leading initiatives, mentoring younger students, and contributing to a vibrant school culture rooted in collaboration, celebration, and collective achievement.
Chromebooks
Every Sixth Form student is provided with a Chromebook, ensuring equal access to digital learning and resources. This supports independent study, research, and collaboration, both in and out of the classroom. Our commitment to digital inclusion empowers students to take ownership of their learning and thrive in a modern academic environment.
