At Ark Putney Academy, we are celebrating another outstanding year of A Level and BTEC results, with our students achieving excellent outcomes that reflect their hard work, resilience and ambition.
This year, 74% of students achieved A to C grades across all three of their A Level subjects*, representing a remarkable 20 percentage point increase on last year’s results. Our vocational learners also performed exceptionally well, with 83% of BTEC students achieving DDM or above. These results are a testament to the commitment of our students and the dedication of our staff, who work tirelessly to support every young person to succeed.
Among this year’s standout achievements is Daria Apruda, who joined Ark Putney Academy during Key Stage 4 after arriving in the UK as a refugee from Ukraine. Despite having had access to a limited number of GCSE subjects, Daria remained determined to pursue her dream of studying Biology at university. With the support of our sixth form team and her own extraordinary perseverance, she achieved an incredible four A*s and has secured a place at Durham University to study Biology.
We are also incredibly proud of Cear Ghafori, who achieved AABA and has been awarded a bursary to study Dentistry at King’s College London. Cear balanced his studies with significant responsibilities at home and showed great courage in advocating for himself throughout the university application process. His success is a powerful example of resilience and determination.
Future doctor Isabela Raga Luciano achieved AAA and will be progressing to Keele University to study Medicine. As the first person in her family to attend university, Isabela successfully balanced academic studies, caring responsibilities and a range of medical work experience programmes to secure her place.
We are equally delighted to celebrate Ronaya Gayle and Olivia Anderson, who have both been awarded Ark bursaries. Ronaya, who began living independently during sixth form while managing personal challenges, will study Diagnostic Radiography at Birmingham City University. Olivia, who balanced caring responsibilities alongside her studies, will progress to university to study Sociology, supported by a bursary that will help alleviate financial pressures during her degree.
Our BTEC students have also excelled. Dorothy Bambale achieved Distinction, Distinction, Distinction** in Business and will continue her studies at the University of Nottingham, highlighting the excellent progression opportunities available through vocational qualifications. Natalia Nowosielska achieved A*AA and will study Psychology with Criminology at King’s College London.
This year, our students will be progressing to a wide range of outstanding destinations, including Warwick, Edinburgh, Exeter, Loughborough, UCL, Durham and King’s College London.
Our Principal, Alison Downey, said: “I am not only immensely proud of our sixth form students, but of our staff too. These results are testament to the dedication of our students and the support they have received from their teachers. The significant progress our students have made demonstrates the responsive, individual focus we give to each of our students.”
As we celebrate these exceptional achievements, we congratulate all of our students and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in their chosen fields, at university and beyond.
